What an auction is

An auction puts a player up for open bidding among managers, rather than being swapped or signed for a set fee. Whoever bids highest — usually in the league's token currency — wins the player. It's the fairest way to distribute in-demand talent, because the player goes to whoever values them most, not whoever asked first.

How a typical auction runs

1. A player is listed. This might be a free agent, a released player, or someone made available through a recruitment event.
2. Bidding opens. Managers place bids, usually in tokens, over a set window of time.
3. Bids escalate. Each new bid has to beat the last. As the clock runs down, things heat up.
4. The auction closes and the highest bidder wins, with an admin confirming the result.
